Our ancestors left us a puzzle to solve that probably through searching and researching our past we can develop a stronger and everlasting ties among us. By doing so, We can feel the sense of pride that we came from the noblest name that is so unique, the only last name in the Philippines that exist or deep rooted in one place. People connected with this last name could always trace their progenitors to this place called DONSOL.

The story can not start without mentioning this young man named Matias, who played a very important role as originator for what and who we are.

Now let us reset the time back when our first ancestor travelled across the vast Pacific Ocean from a land called Mexico. This is probably the place where we could presume the on set of this last name, where our first progenitor started his journey to the Island of Luzon, Philippines.

A young man called Matias, most likely a Mexican and member of the crew that sailed during the last voyage of Galleon trade in 1817. Anchored kilometers away from the shore, the radiating sun on that morning and the smell of ocean breeze attracted this young man to go ashore. He found out that the place was indeed was akin to the place of his origin; the friendly natives similar to the tone of his skin, the spicy foods, fertile soil and the favorable climate. He opted to stay behind and started dreaming what lies ahead. This hard working young man married the daughter of a Chieftain named Tiburcia Macandog. These young couple reared many children and became a part of the elite society. The original siblings were hard working who contributed significantly to the economic and political stability of this place. Today, their descendants are still making history and still contributing toward the preservation of the place.

As of this writing there are more than 400 last names connected to the Abitria through affinity, affiliation and appellation, these last names comprise more or less 85% of the total population of Donsol and it is still growing.
